My research expertise lies in the anthropology of media, gender, and sexuality, with a particular focus on Japan. For my doctoral research, I explored the world of josei-muke adult videos, examining how female fans of male porn actors navigate the intersection of gender, sexuality, media, and fan culture in contemporary Japan. Currently, my work delves into representations of sexual violence and the absence of sexual consent in Japanese media.
At Sophia University, I teach courses on visual and popular culture in Japan, encouraging students to engage with media through an analytical and interdisciplinary lens.
